Janelle Lynch (b. 1969) is an American large-format (8-x-10-inch) landscape photographer. For nearly twenty years, she has been actively engaged with the medium, creating long-term projects in the United States, Mexico, and Spain. She has two monographs published by Radius Books: Los Jardines de México (2011) and Barcelona (2013).

Lynch’s photographs form part of public and private collections worldwide, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; Museum of the City of New York, New York, NY; George Eastman Museum, Rochester, NY; Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego, CA; and Fundación Vila Casas, Barcelona, Spain. She has exhibited internationally, including one-person museum shows at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Buffalo, NY; Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona Beach, FL; and Museo Archivo de la Fotografía, Mexico City, Mexico. Her work has been written about and published in international periodicals and journals.

Lynch’s practice has been supported by substantial 8x10 Film Grants from Kodak in 2007, 2008, and 2011. She is a faculty member at the International Center of Photography and an occasional contributor to Afterimage, The Photo Review, and photo-eye.

In 1999, Lynch received an MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts. In 2003, she completed the Master Class in Photography, a one-on-one tutorial, with Stephen Shore at Bard College. In 2012-2013 she was a Fellow at The Writers’ Institute, CUNY Graduate Center, New York, NY. Since 2015 she has been studying drawing and painting at the New York Studio School with the artist Graham Nickson.

In Fall 2018, Radius Books will publish her third monograph, Another Way of Looking at Love.
